Italian Velvet CoverletsVenice has a rich tradition in producing velvet dating back to the Renaissance. Venetians are also masters of the art of producing painted or printed velvets, perhaps most famously by the studio of Mariano Fortuny. ANICHINI is proud to carry on this tradition with a pattern inspired by the depth of color in the Venetian lagoon and the paisley shawls that were carried to Italy on ancient trade routes.
Our new Lagoon velvet coverlets have an extraordinary depth of design with layers of pattern, like reflections on the water. Paisleys and lace and strokes of watercolor are layered in the softest velvet which has a richly decadent hand.
While this velvet has a silky soft finish it is still substantial. We recommend getting a swatch (below) if there is any question as to the weight of the coverlet.
